Rita Pyuzza, RN, BSN, MSN, FNP, PMH-NP, is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Sheppard Pratt’s Psychiatric Urgent Care. She holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in nursing with an emphasis on public and community health from University of Maryland. Pyuzza also obtained a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from Bowie State University, and post-master’s degree specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing from Regis College. Pyuzza is certified in basic cardiac life support and holds a DEA-X waiver for prescriptions. She is a member of the National League of Nurses and the Maryland Academy of Advanced Practice Clinicals. Pyuzza has worked as an assistant professor of nursing at Howard Community College, where she was awarded an Inspiring Faculty Award for Health Science Division. She has also worked as a nurse practitioner at Salem Veteran Affairs Hospital, Redi Clinic, MetroBest Clinic, Andrews Airforce Base Family Health Clinic, and Tomah Veterans Medical Center. With over 20 years of experience as a nurse in academic, community, and hospital settings, Pyuzza has managed chronic comorbid conditions such as PTSD, MDD, anxiety, bipolar disorders, ADHD, panic disorders, diabetes, CHF, hypertension, COPD, asthma, CRI, AIDS, Alzheimer’s, and more. She is a member of the Maryland Academy of Advanced Practice Clinicians.
