About the Adult Day Hospital

If you’re not getting the support you need from therapy, are struggling at work or at home, or have just been feeling overwhelmed – it might be time to try our day hospital program. Our caring and compassionate mental health professionals will work closely with you to ensure you get the support you need.

The day hospital, also called a ‘partial hospitalization program’, provides mental health treatment in a group setting from Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Our patients go home each afternoon. People typically participate in our program for 2 – 3 weeks and achieve improved outcomes. Take a virtual tour of our day hospital facility.

Continuing Care

When you are ready to leave the day hospital, our team will work with you on a discharge plan. This comprehensive aftercare plan will ensure that the appropriate community-based appointments have been arranged for you.

How to Enroll

There are two common ways to access our day hospital:

• Through a referral by a provider.

• Through a self-referral. Simply visit one of our convenient Psychiatric Urgent Care walk-in clinics for a level-of-care assessment.

Note: If you are referred to a Day Hospital, a Day Hospital admissions coordinator will contact you to share orientation information and schedule a start date. Depending on your insurance authorization requirements, you may need an assessment prior to admission. This assessment would be scheduled and performed by our program providers.

Outcomes

Our data shows that treatment at the Sheppard Pratt day hospitals is effective. We measure patient progress using the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS). Through PROMIS, patients self-report how they are feeling.

Between admission and discharge, patients’ depression scores decreased by 4.0 points and anxiety scores decreased by 4.1 points This is a meaningful improvement in scores, and shows that our patients are leaving the day hospital feeling better than when they were admitted.

I had a fantastic time at Sheppard Pratt. I was there for 10 days in their Adult Day Hospital Program. I learned a lot about myself and my inner peace. 10/10 stars.
