Nine Sheppard Pratt Health System Doctors Honored on 2014 Castle Connolly Top Doctors List

Sheppard Pratt leading psychiatrists recognized in the categories of psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry

Sheppard Pratt Health System is pleased to announce that nine of its doctors have been recognized on the 2014 Castle Connolly Top Doctors list. The Castle Connolly listings are selected each year by a doctor-directed research team, based on peer nominations and research. Of the nine selected Sheppard Pratt doctors, all with regional recognition, four were among “America’s Top Doctors,” an honor placing them in the top one percent of physicians in the country.

Sheppard Pratt Health System doctors were recognized in three categories: psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. These professionals include:

  • Michael A. Bogrov, M.D.: Acknowledged as one of America’s Top Doctors, Dr. Bogrov is recognized for his work in child and adolescent psychiatry. He is a senior psychiatrist for the Health System on its Towson campus.
  • Harry A. Brandt, M.D.: Co-Director of The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, Dr. Brandt is recognized as one of America’s Top Doctors in psychiatry.
  • Steven F. Crawford, M.D.: Co-Director of The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, Dr. Crawford is recognized as one of the Castle Connolly Top Doctors for psychiatry in Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC.
  • Sunil D. Khushalani, M.D.: Recognized in addiction psychiatry in Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC, Dr. Khushalani is the service chief for the Co-Occurring Disorders Unit, as well as the Adult Day Hospital, both on the Health System’s Towson campus.
  • Richard J. Loewenstein, M.D.: One of American’s Top Doctors, Dr. Loewenstein was recognized in psychiatry for his work as the medical director of the Health System’s Trauma Disorders Program.
  • Merle C. McCann, M.D.: Selected as one of America’s Top Doctors, Dr. McCann was recognized in psychiatry for his work with adult patients on the Health System’s Towson campus.
  • Donald R. Ross, M.D.: Medical Director of The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt, Dr. Ross is recognized in psychiatry as one of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors in Baltimore, MD.
  • Veena Shashidharan, M.D.: Recognized in Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC, Dr. Shashidharan was selected as a top doctor in child and adolescent psychiatry for her work with The Berkeley and Eleanor Mann Residential Treatment Center.
  • Susan B. Wait, M.D.: Selected as one of America’s Top Doctors, Dr. Wait was recognized in psychiatry for her work with the Trauma Disorders Program on the Health System’s Towson campus.
