1-mile family-friendly walk event to feature color splash, games and activities
Sheppard Pratt Health System has announced its 2nd annual walk event benefitting patients, students, their families and those affected by serious mental illness. The 2nd annual Sheppard Pratt Stride will take place from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
This year’s Stride will feature a 1-mile walk, complete with special color splash checkpoint on the course (non-toxic and will not stain skin), allowing everyone to get a fun kind of messy! After-party activities will appeal to the whole family, and include music, a bounce house, arts and crafts, carnival games, face painting, photo booth, an illusionist and more.
Last year’s event brought 350 participants and raised more than $40,000. “We were blown away by the support from community members and employees at our inaugural event,” said Marguerite Kelley, vice president of philanthropy at Sheppard Pratt Health System. “Our hope is to grow support for this year’s Stride to fight the stigma associated with mental illness and fund beneficial activities and therapies to help with healing and recovery. We can’t wait to see what year two of the Stride brings!”
The 1-mile walk will begin and end at The Conference Center on Sheppard Pratt’s Towson Campus located at 6501 N. Charles St. Baltimore, Maryland, 21204. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.
The registration fee for adults is $20, which includes a T-shirt (for those who register by Friday, Sept. 25) and $5 for children under 16. Children’s registration does not include a T-shirt, but a special surprise will be given out to kids during the event. All online registrants will receive a $50 gift code to www.steinersports.com. Day-of registration is available from 9-9:30 a.m. at an increased rate of $25 for adults and $10 for children.
