Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is a course that educates a person on how to give assistance to someone having a mental health or substance abuse related crisis. Through Mental Health First Aid, individuals learn to identify risk factors and warning signs of mental illness and substance abuse. The course teaches individuals how to apply a Mental Health First Aid plan in a variety of situations, assess for suicide risk, listen non-judgmentally, provide information and resources, and encourage people to seek help both from professionals. Mental Health First Aid also teaches individuals important interventions during crises such as trauma, panic attacks, suicide, acute psychosis, and overdoses from substance abuse.
