What is your job at Sheppard Pratt?
I am the LGBTQ+ care navigator at MoCo Reconnect, a youth drop-in center in Wheaton, Maryland. I work with LGBTQ+ youth to help them build the skills and resources they need to succeed. I also give specialized support to youth to help them understand their LGBTQ+ identity and do workshops and events to bring LGBTQ+ youth together.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Most days, I meet and connect with young people in our space, run workshops and groups, and find supportive resources for our clients. I also recently started an LGBTQ+ youth support group.
What do you enjoy most about working at Sheppard Pratt?
I love that I can see my clients grow over time. It’s amazing to see them heal and flourish through adversity. I most enjoy seeing the young people in my program use their coping skills, grow into their identities, and reach their goals.

What has been your proudest moment at work?
It was a proud moment to see a client I had helped build coping skills remember to use those skills on their own.
What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend?
I love to take naps with my cat, DonJuan.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
If I could learn anything, I would learn how to blow glass!
