Grand Rounds: Treatment-Resistant & Chronic Depression Treatment Modalities

Join Jeff LaPratt, PsyD, lead psychologist, DBT, Institute for Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics at Sheppard Pratt, for this free Grand Rounds lecture.
Overview:

Around 280 to 350 million people globally are estimated to be affected by depression, making it the primary cause of disability worldwide. Unfortunately, not every patient treated for depression experiences a positive treatment response or remission. This has prompted the introduction of the term "treatment-resistant depression" (TRD). In this discussion, we will explore the model of treatment-resistant depression, highlighting its limitations and offering an alternative view through a difficult-to-treat depression model. Additionally, the talk will emphasize the significance of comprehensive assessments and discuss both current and future treatment options.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe chronic depression.
  • Identify the need for assessment.
  • Discuss current treatment options.
