The Sheppard Pratt School in Gaithersburg is small in size and population, but nothing else about us is small. Everything we do, we do big. We have big hearts, big intentions, and big goals for our students. Like all schools that are part of Sheppard Pratt, when the students walk in the doors, they are greeted by the smiling faces of our dedicated and experienced staff, and that positive feeling continues throughout each day.
Our experienced, compassionate team, which includes an administrator, certified teachers, behavioral specialists, a vocational specialist, occupational and speech therapists, and trained assistants, understand that every child deserves individualized instruction and support. Through our robust curriculum, we help students meet their educational goals and prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
Our students and their families benefit from the structured daily routine that we offer. We distinguish ourselves by providing:
- 12 months of instruction
- Small class sizes (2:1 staff to student ratio)
- College and Career Readiness Curriculum
- Syracuse Community Reference-Curriculum
- Occupational therapy
- Speech and language therapy
- Vocational and life skills training
- Psychiatric services, as needed
- Full-time nursing services
- Transition services
- Community-based instruction
- Vocational skills training on site and in the community
- Weekly recreational outings
All of these services and activities are just a small part of the diverse programming offered. As part of Sheppard Pratt, we have access to innovative training, technology, and therapies and bring all of that to our school.
