Information for Interns
To participate in a Project SEARCH program, a potential intern must:
- Demonstrate his/her ability to work independently
- Be entering his/her last year of entitlement with AACPS or be a client of The Arc (Central Chesapeake Region)
- Be DORS eligible
- Be Developmental Disabilities Administration eligible
- Be Medical Assistance eligible
All applicants must apply, participate in an interview, and take a skills assessment. The application process, which begins approximately a year and a half prior to participation, enables the Project SEARCH selection committee to determine if the applicant’s interests and skills are appropriate for the Project SEARCH program. The application will be sent home for guardian signature.
If a young adult is accepted at Anne Arundel Medical Center or The BWI Hilton Hotel, AACPS students will graduate from their high schools and will enroll at The Forbush School at Glyndon (under the umbrella of AACPS). The student will then go to their assigned work site daily in lieu of school. Upon completion of the internship, interns will receive their Maryland High School Certificate of Completion if they have not yet done so.
