Patient Referral

Because of the unique nature of those we serve (medical issues causing behavioral problems, cognitive issues interfering with voluntary admission), most individuals are admitted to our unit by referral from an emergency room.

Admissions Process

Once an individual has been referred from one of these sources, meets our admissions criteria, and we have a bed available, we will admit them to the unit. Upon arrival to the unit, we will complete a nursing assessment. We also complete a safety search to ensure that no contraband items are being brought onto the unit. If a patient is non-verbal, the guardian will usually help with the admissions process.

After the intake process, we ensure that each individual we treat is fully comfortable with their surroundings through a tour of the unit.
