Discharge: Child & Adolescent Neuropsychiatric Unit
We begin planning for discharge at admission. Our goal is to get your child back into the community as soon as possible. In order to discharge, children must no longer a danger to themselves or others, and they must be able to safely manage their behaviors in the community. We have a dedicated discharge coordinator on our treatment team. They are responsible for building a comprehensive, individualized discharge plan to ensure your child’s mental health needs are met once they are out of the hospital.
We may arrange appointments with a trusted outpatient child and adolescent psychiatrist or therapist who works with your insurance and/or medical assistance. For those who have a current outpatient treatment team, we will work directly with your provider to arrange for a smooth transition back to outpatient care.
