Addiction Services Offered by Sheppard Pratt
Recovery from alcohol use, drug addiction, and substance use goes beyond merely ending your use of them. Our goal is to help you build a full, meaningful, and productive life in your community.
Through our Addiction Services program, we offer:
Outpatient detoxification
For many clients, detox is the first step to recovery from drug addiction. We provide medically supervised outpatient detox from opiates, alcohol, benzodiazepines, and barbiturates.
We understand that individuals addicted to opioids experience severe withdrawal symptoms. We can prescribe medication to help ease this discomfort. Our medical staff will also see you or your loved one daily to engage in intensive outpatient treatment and support during the detox period.
Ongoing therapy and support
We offer individual, family, and group therapy to help support recovery efforts. Group therapy can help individuals address addiction in a supportive and understanding environment. We also require clients to attend a community program, such as 12-step or self-help meetings, so they can build a sober support system.
Self-help opportunities
We host Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings on our Towson hospital campus to supplement involvement in a self-help program. These weekly support sessions provide you or your loved one with community support and a sense of accountability while adjusting to sobriety. These in-person meetings will depend on current Covid-19 policies.
Drug and Alcohol Education Program
We offer a 6-week group Drug and Alcohol Education program that meets the requirements set by the Maryland court system. This program is available for individuals who have been convicted of:
- Driving under the influence (DUI)
- Driving while impaired (DWI)
- Possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS)
- Testing positive for an illicit substance on the job
- Each group session is $80, and there is a one-time assessment fee of $180.
Where to find dual diagnosis treatment services
At some of our locations, you can receive substance use treatment while you participate in therapy for underlying mental health issues.
